Nick Saban reveals reason for bloodshot eye

Nick Saban has a relatively unsurprising reason for his bloodshot eye.

In his Thursday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the Alabama football coach pled ignorance as to the reason why his eye was bloodshot, while McAfee joked that it must have come from a strenuous squatting endeavor.

However, on his own weekly radio show, Saban revealed that he had gotten a plausible reason from his doctor.

“He said, ‘You know you can get this from yelling,’” Saban relayed his doctor telling him, as covered by Sports Illustrated.

“He said, ‘You’ve got it from yelling. There’s nothing wrong with you. You just got it from yelling. You busted a blood vessel from yelling too much.’”

Alabama hosts LSU in a rivalry matchup between the two top-15 ranked teams on Saturday night, and Saban spoke about the rigorous preparation needed to win such a game.

“Most important thing I think in this game is great practice habits technically, work on the things that you need to do to go execute,” Saban said, as covered by On3.

“You know you’re going to play against a good player, they have a lot of good players. Need to know exactly what to do, how to do it, why it’s important to do it that way so when it comes to the game you’re not really thinking about it, you can do it automatically.”

He also spoke about containing a quarterback like LSU’s Jayden Daniels, who is a mobile threat.

“That takes great preparation and focus, and that’s what’s going to help you have success in the game and that’s what guys have to stay focused on,” Saban said.

“You can’t worry about what everyone else says, or thinks, or does. You’ve got to worry about what you’ve got to do and I think that’s the most important thing for our team right now.”

Alabama is 7-1 and on top of the SEC West with their only loss of the season coming to Texas.
