Olivia Dunne believes her engagement on TikTok has been unilaterally throttled.
The LSU gymnast and omnipresent social media sensation noticed that her engagement was languishing on TikTok, and commented on one of her own videos, “Why am I shadow banned.”
As OutKick pointed out, her viewership stats are starkly down in recent weeks, with each of her last four videos failing to garner a million views, which was previously about the least a post would draw.
It’s unclear whether Dunne, 21, has been specifically targeted by the social media platform or if she was merely the victim of some broader algorithmic change.
Earlier this year, there was a snafu in which Dunne’s TikTok account mysteriously disappeared for a brief period, along with other bizarre activity.
“It’s a glitch,” Dunne tweeted in response to one person who had commented that the gymnast had deleted or unpinned a number of her videos. “Idk what’s wrong with my account right now.”
The account reappeared shortly thereafter.
Last month, Dunne opened up to People about how she was handling her skyrocketing fame.
“The past few years, juggling NIL or ever since my sophomore year, since the summer of 2021, I’ve definitely had a hard time finding balance,” Dunne said in the interview.
“That’s really important because if you don’t have balance, that can affect your mental health. I finally feel like I got a grasp on it this year. It’s just compartmentalizing things mentally is very important in my everyday routine.”
Dunne made her Sports Illustrated swimsuit debut earlier this year, and will be returning for the 2024 edition.
Dunne is dating Paul Skenes, the LSU pitcher who was the first overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft by the Pirates.
