Taking listeners on the most nostalgic of musical journeys, Pastland has teamed up with Declain and SONJA on the dual release re-imagination of ‘Cheri Cheri Lady.’
Bridging past and present in the most captivating of manners, Pastland has teamed up with German DJ and record producer Declain and vocalist SONJA on the re-imagination of Modern Talking’s classic hit, ‘Cheri Cheri Lady,’ with not one, but two unique versions. A project that has been in the works since 2018, Declain spent over 300 hours on perfecting each of these tracks, with the pop/dance mix version paying homage to that nostalgic 80s vibe of the original, whilst the big room version taking the festival anthem route, and providing that sense of euphoria in its complete entirety.
A dual release that continues to advocate for Christopher Lao’s newly launched Pastland project, ‘Cheri Cheri Lady’ emerges as the fifth track of this endeavour, with the overall goal being the preservation of the Golden Era of dance music (2014-2020), through the re-introduction of unreleased and re-imagined tracks courtesy of acts like Declain, SaberZ, TBR and Skytech. An initiative that embodies the core values and ethos of our community, Pastland has set out on increasing the awareness of what once was, and through the addition of a modern touch, ensure the authenticity and timelessness of some of the greatest productions that defined, and continue to define the dance industry as a whole.
A match made in heaven for this latest re-imagination, Declain and SONJA are paving their own paths on the daily, and when combined, the end product is nothing short of spectacular. From their breakthrough single ‘Break The Silence’ in 2019, to standout covers like ‘Into the Groove’ and ‘Holding Out for a Hero,’ both acts compliment each other’s craft, and we of course, are all for it.
