It appears Patrick Mahomes left Henry Winkler high and dry on that dinner invite.
In a recent interview with TMZ, the “Happy Days” legend revealed he has yet to dine with the Chiefs quarterback — one year after the pair originally floated the plans.
“I think he fibbed to me,” Winkler said of Mahomes.
Mahomes, 28, and Winkler, 78, had a sweet moment on the sidelines during a Chiefs-Chargers game last November, when the two-time Super Bowl winner gifted the actor-comedian with a personalized jersey.
“I appreciate you coming,” Mahomes told Winkler, who replied at the time, “I’m so happy to be here.”
As the conversation continued, Mahomes said, “I’m going to take you up on that dinner, though.”
Winkler responded, “Absolutely, there is always a seat at my table for you.”
Though 12 months have passed since their sideline chat, Winkler knows what Mahomes can expect from their proposed dinner.
“He will have a great chicken,” Winkler told TMZ.
With Mahomes currently in the middle of the season, it seems the gathering with Winkler may have to wait.
The quarterback has led the Chiefs to a 7-3 record this year.
Kansas City is looking to rebound following Monday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, in what was a rematch of Super Bowl 2023 in February.
Mahomes completed 24 of 43 pass attempts for 177 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Through 10 games this season, Mahomes has thrown 2,619 yards for 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
During his MVP campaign in 2022, Mahomes ended the regular season with 5,250 yards, 41 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Kansas City will face Las Vegas (5-6) on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.
