Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have made a grand exit from the royal family back in 2020, but they’re still pretty tight with two certain members nowadays.
The couple are “so close” and are “still the best of friends” to Harry’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, according to a family insider.
The source divulged to People that the foursome “talk constantly” despite the heated feud between the Sussexes and the rest of the Firm.
The insider revealed that the tensions between the duke, 38, the duchess, 42, King Charles and Prince William have been particularly hard for Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 33.
“This whole drama between him and Meghan and the rift with the rest of the family has been really stressful for the girls. It’s hard to watch because they see both sides of it,” they said.
They added that Beatrice and Eugenie “understand and live the royal machine.”
The sisters have always maintained a tight bond with Harry and the former actress.
The former army man even stayed close to his cousins and their respective husbands during the coronation of Charles at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
Harry was spotted walking into the 1,000-year-old church with Beatrice, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, as well as Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.
Harry then took his place in the third row next to the former Casamigos brand ambassador, 37, and Princess Alexandra.
Eugenie was also the only figure from the royal family to make an appearance in his Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan.” She also cheered on with Harry at the 2022 Super Bowl.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl dished more about the warm relationship between Harry, Markle and his cousins last year.
She told OK! at the time: “Eugenie and Jack are very close to [the Sussexes]. It’s actually one of the few close relationships Harry and Meghan have retained in the royal family.”
Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand shed some more light on the tight-knit friendship in their 2020 book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.
“Eugenie had always been more than just a cousin to Harry. They were also the closest of friends,” they penned. “Like Harry, Eugenie also struggled to carve out her own identity growing up.”
The authors also described how Eugenie and Harry had many “nights out together in London” and would confide in each other.
The pair of pals have even forgone visitors of the British hotspot, the Mahiki nightclub, where they would often creep in and out through the back entrance to avoid being photographed.
