Hollywood is rejoicing now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has ended. Coinciding with the WGA strike over the summer, the Screen Actors’ Guild embarked on its four-month strike over the summer of 2023. After the AMPTP refused to negotiate with the union on significant terms such as fair wages and limits on artificial intelligence, countless film and TV projects halted production. But now, they can resume, and fans need to know which of their favorite movies and shows will premiere next year.

TV Shows
Wednesday
Netflix’s fan-favorite horror show was renewed for a second season after season 1 premiered in 2022. Series star Jenna Ortega even teased fans with what they could expect from her character, Wednesday Addams, when she returns to the small screen.
Outer Banks
Netflix’s popular teen show already started production on season 4 in mid-2023 — right before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes commenced. Now, the streamer’s highly successful series is expected to resume shooting.
Yellowstone
Paramount+’s most popular TV series is ending due to Kevin Costner’s departure. However, only half of the show’s final season has aired, and the second half is expected to premiere in November 2024.
Mayor of Kingstown
Jeremy Renner’s Paramount+ show was just renewed for season 3. It is not currently clear when production is scheduled to resume.
Emily In Paris
Season 4 of Lily Collins’ Netflix series was reported to start filming again in January 2024, according to Variety.
Euphoria
HBO’s Emmy-winning show is not expected to return until 2025, per PEOPLE. However, production is expected to resume in 2024.
The White Lotus
Series creator Mike White told Entertainment Weekly that he wanted production on season 3 to resume in early 2024 because scripts were complete.
The Handmaid’s Tale
Hulu’s bone-chilling drama starring Elisabeth Moss was supposed to start filming season 6 in 2023. It is not clear yet when production will resume.
Movies
Beetlejuice 2
Tim Burton confirmed that the sequel only had two days left of filming before the strikes commenced, noting that production was “99 percent done,” in an interview with The Independent.
Deadpool 3
Ryan Reynolds’ film is reportedly expected to resume filming soon.
Snow White
Disney’s live-action adaptation of its 1937 classic, Snow White, is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025. Disney pushed its premiere date amid the strikes even though star Rachel Zegler confirmed that they had already wrapped filming.
Mission Impossible: Red Reckoning Part Two
Tom Cruise’s eighth Mission Impossible film had its premiere pushed from 2024 to 2025. It is reportedly expected to restart production.
Wicked
According to Variety, the second part of the Wicked live-action adaptation had 10 days left of production before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes shut down filming.
