Raven-Symoné has gone under the knife more times than she cares to count — before she even reached the age of 18.
The Disney Channel icon, 37, had many plastic surgery procedures when she was just a teenager, such as two breast reductions and liposuction.
She opened up about her past operations recently on her radio program, “The Best Podcast Ever With Raven and Miranda.”
Raven-Symoné was in her late teens when she got her big break starring on the hit Disney sitcom “That’s So Raven” and she explained how fame influenced her body image.
“There was paperwork involved,” said she told her co-host and wife Miranda Pearman-Maday.
She added that her father “suggested strongly” that she should make her breasts smaller.
“He was like, ‘So you don’t feel bad, is there anything that you want?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?’ So I got a twofer,” the “Raven’s Home” actress went on.
“It was just a mess, just being that young and the pain of it all,” she said.
She stated that she had a lot of back pain before her surgeries. However, after her first reduction, she suffered from a seizure.
“I remember waking up and seeing everything and then I started to have this dry mouth and couldn’t breathe and then I went back under and they were like, ‘Oh yeah, you had a seizure,’” Raven-Symoné recounted.
She recalled that she endured discomfort following her operations and still has scar tissue left over from them.
After the primary surgery, she began to gain some weight and went onto the operating table once again for a second reduction.
The “Cosby Show” alum stated that “nobody knew at that age” of her body modifications and she continued to be trolled on the internet “because I wasn’t as skinny as everybody else and they still called me fat.”
She said: “You get that done and it’s still not what everybody wanted to see.”
Her negative self-image caused her to consider liposuction. While she said that the cosmetic surgery didn’t actually remove her stomach fat due to her hormone imbalance, she “was going to gain weight whether I had lipo or not.”
The “Cheetah Girls” star concluded her story by saying that one should look into therapy before wanting to change their body.
In 2021, she lost about 30 pounds and told E! News that her wife was part of the reason why she wanted to slim down.
“This was because we want to have a life together,” she said. “[My wife] doesn’t want to take me to an early grave and I want to make sure I am there for her in the best health possible.”
