Even Aaron Rodgers’ cameos at practice — and the chance that he could return earlier than expected this season — doesn’t change the Jets’ reality.
They’re still 4-7. They still need a win against the Falcons on Sunday at MetLife Stadium to keep their fading postseason hopes alive. And when Tim Boyle and the Jets host Bijan Robinson, Desmond Ridder and Atlanta (5-6), another loss could squash Rodgers’ attempt to return if the Jets aren’t in contention for a playoff berth.
The Falcons, even with their sub-.500 record, sit in first place in the NFC South. They’ve won just once across their past four games, but in a victory last week against New Orleans, Atlanta rushed for 228 yards — and their 139.3 yards per game ranks fourth in the NFL.
The Jets, though, have lost four consecutive games, and their shift to Boyle in Week 12 didn’t fix anything. The offense managed seven or fewer points for the third time in four games, too.
