Perhaps Sunday’s NFL action got a little too hot at the NFL RedZone studios.
Emergency alarms were set off during the live broadcast, forcing an evacuation as host Scott Hanson was on the air.
While the evacuation of both the studio and control room appeared brief, alarms were still heard in the background as Hanson signed off for the day.
Hanson cut in as the program was doing a live look-in as the Bills were driving down the field.
“Ladies and gentlemen this is a first in my 20-something-year broadcasting career, we have an alarm going off in the studios of NFL RedZone right now,” Hanson said as an alarm could be heard in the background.
“We are being told we need to evacuate the building. We do not know the nature of the emergency. You can probably hear the alarm going right over the top of my right shoulder here as it is something absolutely unprecedented for us.”
The well-known NFL RedZone host went on to explain that they would be leaving the Bills-Eagles game on for the duration of the evacuation as control room and studio personnel needed to vacate.
“We are all good right now. We’re remaining calm,” Hanson continued. “But we are following protocols as I’m sure you all would at your places of work.”
Hanson was able to return to the studio and sign off for the night as the NFL RedZone’s broadcast window closed.
The siren was still going off as he tossed to a package of top-five plays of the day and then ended the program.
The AP’s Greg Beacham tweeted that alarms had since been turned off at 7:23 p.m.
The RedZone host poked fun at the situation in a post on X after he signed off.
“Well, that was…. Interesting,” he wrote. “Alarm has stopped. Apparently all clear. Still waiting on details. Thanks for watching NFL RedZone week 12! One to remember.”
