Welcome to the world of Shaquille O’Neal also known as DJ DIESEL. From a young age, music inspired Shaquille O’neal. At just 14, his life took a turn after he attended a Public Enemy concert. That night, immersed in the energy of the live show, young Shaquille found a new dream: learning the art of DJ’ing.
Determined and focused, Shaquille saved every dollar he could—cutting neighbors’ grass, walking dogs, and taking any odd jobs available—until he scraped together enough buy his first set of turntables at a local pawn shop. With that small investment, a future DJ powerhouse was born.
Fast forward to 1993, Shaquille made a shocking entrance into the music industry with his debut rap album, Shaq Diesel. Defying all expectations, the album sold over a million copies and peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 100, making O’Neal the first—and only—professional athlete to have a platinum-selling album. This milestone would set the stage for his transformation into DJ DIESEL.
Shaq’s music career continued to grow immensely as he crashed the famous TomorrowWorld music festival in Atlanta in 2014. Immersed in the electrifying beats of Steve Aoki and Skrillex, he found himself mesmerized, forever changed by the exhilarating energy of the crowd and the thunderous drop of bass. It was a revelation—a moment that rekindled a passion he had harbored since his teenage years.
Now performing massive festivals under the name DJ Diesel, Shaq continues to make big waves in the electronic music scene. His collaborative records with industry giants like Steve Aoki, Riot Ten, NGHTMRE, Eliminate, and 4B have further cemented his status as a legend in the music world. But his impact doesn’t stop at production. Diesel’s massive presence has dominated festival stages across the globe, including iconic venues like Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas, Lollapalooza, and Electric Zoo.
In true Shaq fashion, he’s taken his DJ career to unprecedented heights. He’s launched his own festival series, Shaq’s Bass All-Stars, and holds a residency at the prestigious Wynn’s XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas. His sets are known for their bone-rattling bass, high-energy antics, and his inimitable showmanship. When DJ Diesel takes the stage, it’s more than just a performance—it’s an experience, an all-encompassing journey that unites thousands under the vibe of his music.
