The latest sequel to the Zach Wilson show is here

Zach Wilson is the Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger of quarterbacks. Every time you think the story is over, there is another sequel.

Wilson returns as the starting quarterback Sunday against the Texans, two weeks after he was benched for Tim Boyle. The Jets (4-8) hope this time Wilson’s play won’t be worthy of a horror flick.

“The biggest thing for Zach: Just let the thing rip, trust in your ability, trust in your teammates, trust in your arm talent, trust what you see and just let it fly,” coach Robert Saleh said. “He has got undeniable talent, arm talent, undeniable athleticism, and when he plays with that ‘F-it’ mentality, if you will, he is pretty good.”

Fans probably feel like saying “F-it” when they think of this season.

The Jets are riding a five-game losing streak and have scored just two offensive touchdowns during that stretch.

Wilson is expected to start for the Jets on Saturday. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST

The Texans (7-5) are fighting for a playoff spot behind rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Wilson was reportedly reluctant to resume the starter’s role, something he denies. This could be his final shot at proving he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL. He knows he needs to take more chances. We’ll see if he can do it.

“I think it is being aggressively smart. I think that is the word I need,” Wilson said. “When you see it, let it rip. When defense makes a good play, they make a good play, but it is understanding when it is OK to make a mistake because you saw something, you let it rip and if something happens, something happens. It is being aggressive and trusting, trust is a big word in there too.

“Trusting what you see and just understanding you are going to make some mistakes there, but majority of the time when you trust what you see, good things will happen.”

The Jets have not been officially eliminated from the playoffs yet, but there is no realistic chance of them making it.

They are now just trying to show they can look like an NFL offense, something they have not done for the past two months.

The latest Zach Wilson sequel has got to be better than the previous ones or this Jets season will sink even lower.
