The Toxic Avenger does exactly what one would want from a remake of a classic horror film, as it honors the spirit of the original but does not soullessly recreate it. Instead, it takes the story in some interesting new directions but never forgets what made audiences fall in love with the property in the first place. It's phenomenal.
