Ana Navarro has a bone to Pinkett with Jada.
“The View” host held nothing back when addressing Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent announcement that she and Will Smith have actually been secretly separated for seven years.
On today’s episode of “The View,” just hours after an exclusive clip from Pinkett Smith’s upcoming NBC News prime-time special with Hoda Kotb revealed that she and Smith have lived “completely separate lives” since 2016, Navarro wasted no time verbally assaulting the 52-year-old actress.
The co-host accused “The Girls Trip” star of sharing juicy tidbits of her nearly 20-year marriage with Will Smith to sell copies of her new book “Worthy” out Oct. 17.
“I think she’s having a relationship with her bank account,” Navarro suggested. “Every time she needs to increase the ratings of ‘Red Table Talk,’ every time she needs to sell books, she drops these bombshells. I find it unseemly.”
She added, “I will tell you this: be careful of anybody who pretends to have a perfect marriage.”
Not everyone shared Navarro’s sentiments. During the talk show’s Hot Topics segment, Joy Behar chimed in and called Pinkett Smith’s timing “smart” while Sunny Hostin defended the “Matrix” star and commended her bravery.
“It’s a memoir, though, and she writes in her memoir that they’ve been separated for all of that time,” Hostin said. “I think it’s a brave thing to do. I think it’s a courageous thing to do. I think it has less to do with money. She has plenty.”
Still Navarro would not back down, bashing Pinkett for her marriage constantly making headlines from the Oscar slap heard around the world to her various romantic entanglements.
“Why do I know so much about these peoples’ marriage? I kind of feel like I know more about their marriage than I know about my own damn marriage,” she said. “I don’t need to know all of this. I just want to watch reruns of ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’.”
Pinkett Smith dished about the infamous slap in a recent interview with People, claiming she thought Smith smacking Chris Rock onstage at the Academy Awards on March 27, 2022 after he made a joke about her bald held was just a “skit.”
Navarro, however, was not convinced.
“Her face did not look like she thought it was a comedy sketch,” she said. “If she thought that was a comedy sketch, she was a role in it. She was playing into it.”
“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET.
