This Is What Your Favorite Athletes Are Listening To In the Locker Room

Music is an inextricable part of sporting events, from the anthems played (and sung by fans) during the big game to those soundtracking replays on television broadcasts. And it’s also a big part of what leads up to the main event itself, whether revving up the team in the locker room beforehand or just providing the right vibes at practices. LA Galaxy

“We’re a team with players from all over the world and the music in the locker room is pretty diverse,” says midfielder Edwin Cerillo. “We’ll listen to anything from reggaetón to country music and that’s probably one of the coolest things about our locker room culture. There’s a lot of players with different music vibes, and given we are in Los Angeles and have a lot of Latinos on the team, you can always count on hearing Bad Bunny or Peso Pluma in the locker room. Most of us also love rap so it’s common to hear songs from Future and Drake on the speakers. Music is such an important part of our everyday lives as athletes because it helps us mentally prep for trainings, matches and everything in between.”

Angel City FC

“The music we play pregame is bad b-tch energy, honestly,” says defender Paige Nielsen. “Meg Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna. I know thousands of songs and I take our music seriously, because it really does bring us together and hypes us up. It puts me in a really good mood and reminds me of why I play.” Pop Smoke and Central Cee are currently on repeat.

The Padres pregame clubhouse playlist varies depending on the day, and that day’s starting pitcher usually gets first dibs when it comes to the musical selection. ” But you can normally hear hip-hop, reggaetón, rock and even some country blasting from the clubhouse speakers,” says third baseman Manny Machado. After a Padres victory, the team will bump a go-to playlist that last season featured the likes of YG, Drake, Jack Harlow, Trick Daddy and even Quad City DJs’ “Space Jam.” Machado himself favors Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, J. Cole, Eminem and Bad Bunny among others; before a game, he particularly likes listening to Lil Wayne’s “Right Above It”, Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin” and anything from Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG
