Tom Cruise thinks Timothée Chalamet has what it takes to be Hollywood’s next leading man.
In the 27-year-old “Wonka” star’s GQ November cover story, which was published Tuesday, Chalamet revealed the “Top Gun” megastar, 61, sent him “the most wonderfully inspiring email” after Chalamet finished the first “Dune” movie.
“He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So it’s up to you. The email was really like a war cry,” Chalamet recalled.
The note even included names of experts he might need for stunt training, including motorcycle and helicopter coaches.
Chalamet added that Cruise’s “Top Gun: Maverick” helped him during the filming of “Dune: Part 2.” So much so, that he saw it eight times.
“’Top Gun’ was just hugely inspiring to me last summer when we were making ‘Dune,’” he told the outlet. “Some of the crew were kind of scoffing at going, but I just thought it was one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen.”
While “Dune 2” is slated to hit theaters on March 15, 2024, the “Kardashians” executive producer Ben Winston recently revealed if fans will see a glimpse of Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s relationship on the family’s Hulu reality show.
“No,” Winston simply told Variety.
As for if the team planned to film the couple down the road, he added: “No comment.”
“Nothing I can say can bring me good things on that. If I say I hope to, then suddenly that’s a headline, and suddenly I don’t get any access. I can’t win on that,” he explained. “So I can just say that we haven’t filmed anything.”
