A storm may soon be brewing for Travis Kelce’s Taylor Swift parade.
That’s according to Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, who speculated Tuesday on “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz” that Chiefs fans could potentially turn on the star tight end should Kansas City’s 7-3 season spiral.
“I’ve got a message for Travis Kelce, Dan, because he’s a friend of mine, and I am telling you right now, he doesn’t know this is going to happen but it’s about to happen. They lose more games, OK, he has a drop, he has a big fumble in that game last night, big turnover … and Chiefs fans, they’re going to start doubting Travis Kelce,” Stugotz said.
“If they lose a couple of more games, they’re going to start to say that Travis Kelce is not as focused as he’s been in years past, he is more focused on his relationship with Taylor Swift, he is more focused on doing his podcast with Jason Kelce.”
The Eagles got their Super Bowl 2023 revenge on the Chiefs with a 21-17 win on “Monday Night Football.”
Kelce, whose high-profile romance with Swift has dominated headlines, had a rough outing that included a dropped pass and a fumble in the red zone.
“I’m not playing my best football right now. It’s pissing me off every f–king time I go out there,” Kelce said on Wednesday’s installment of his “New Heights” podcast that he co-hosts with older brother Jason, a star center on the Eagles.
The eight-time Pro Bowler scored one touchdown in the first half and finished the game with seven catches for 44 yards.
Although the Chiefs are still a top-two seed in the AFC playoff race, Stugotz cautioned that Kelce could eventually be in the crosshairs of a passionate fanbase.
“Dan, I’m telling you it’s coming. Chiefs fans are going to come down on him on sports radio,” Stugotz said. “… He doesn’t see it coming, he’s new to the game but I’m telling him right now, it’s going to come.”
Stugotz reiterated in a separate post on Tuesday that he is not coming down on Kelce, 34, but is simply “trying to help a friend out” should an avalanche of backlash be on the forecast.
“To be clear, these are not my words, these are the future words of Chiefs fans if this continues. Just trying to help a friend out. Love you @tkelce,” Stugotz said on X.
Kelce touched upon the heightened attention that comes with being in Swift’s orbit in a newly released profile with WSJ. Magazine.
“Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them…. I’ve never dealt with it,” Kelce said. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it…. The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”
Kelce and Swift were first publicly linked in September.
The NFL star attempted to meet Swift, 33, over the summer during her “Eras Tour” stop in Kansas City, where he wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
The Chiefs will visit the Raiders (5-6) on Sunday in Las Vegas.
