Travis Kelce opened up about his pregame, on-field chat Sunday night with Aaron Rodgers on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason, part of which was captured on camera.
Kelce, an already popular player whose fame has skyrocketed as Taylor Swift’s new flame, expressed hope that Rodgers could return to the Jets late in the season from his Achilles tear.
“Talked about a little bit of the ‘stache wear, how powerful this thing can be.” Kelce said on the podcast. “And then on top of that, I just wanted to go up to him, I didn’t shoot him a text or anything like that, I just wanted to go up to him and just tell him how excited everybody was and how bummed out we were that you got banged up and needed to get surgery.
“Watching “Hard Knocks,” man, it was electric to see what Aaron Rodgers was going to do with that team, and not to say that they’re not going to be great cause he’s not there but I think that having Aaron there was going to be that much more entertaining for somebody that’s a fan of the game like I am. And you just hate to see the great ones go down with injury, that’s for sure. So, I just went up to him and told him we were all hurting for him and hopefully he gets healthy quick.”
The podcast was released Wednesday, one day after Rodgers took a shot at Kelce by calling him “Mr. Pfizer” during his weekly spot with Pat McAfee. The comment referenced how Kelce is in a new commercial promoting getting flu and COVID shots at the same time.
It’s unclear if the Kelces’ show was recorded before Rodgers’ interview.
Rodgers, a noted Swiftie who attended her show at MetLife Stadium over the summer, was back in East Rutherford on Sunday for the first time since he went down in Week 1, just four plays into his Jets debut.
Swift was also in attendance, cheering on Kelce and the Chiefs from a suite during their “Sunday Night Football” win.
Kelce and Swift, who left the game separately, spent time at the music star’s Manhattan apartment the morning of the game.
