The Yankees placed Domingo German on the restricted list on Wednesday after he agreed to voluntarily submit to inpatient treatment for alcohol abuse, the team said in a statement.
“It is critical that Domingo completely focuses on addressing his health and well-being,” the Yankees said in the statement. “We will respect his privacy as he begins this process.”
The right-hander last pitched Monday, throwing five shutout innings in relief after initially being scratched from his start for what the Yankees said was armpit discomfort.
German, 30, previously served an 81-game suspension under MLB’s joint domestic violence policy in 2019 and 2020.
