Gorillaz drop epic new single ‘The Manifesto’ ft. Trueno & Proof

Gorillaz have dropped their latest single ‘The Manifesto’, featuring Trueno and the late Proof, marking the second release from their forthcoming album The Mountain, due out on March 20, 2026. Building anticipation for the record, the seven-minute track dives deep into cross-cultural soundscapes and emotional storytelling that bridge continents and generations.

The song features an extraordinary lineup of global musicians, including sarod masters Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, the legendary Jea Band Jaipur – known for soundtracking Indian weddings since 1936 – bansuri virtuoso Ajay Prasanna, and the powerful Mountain Choir led by Vijayaa Shanker. The combination of traditional Indian instrumentation with Gorillaz’s futuristic production creates a transcendental sound journey unlike anything in their catalog.

Adding to its emotional weight, ‘The Manifesto’ includes a posthumous verse from Proof of D12, who originally collaborated with the group on 2001’s ‘911’ from the Bad Company soundtrack. Reflecting on the track, the band’s fictional drummer Russel Hobbs described it as “a musical meditation infused with light – a journey of the soul, with beats.”

Following the Sparks-assisted ‘The Happy Dictator’, ‘The Manifesto’ expands on the sonic and conceptual world of ‘The Mountain’, recorded across London, Devon, and various cities in India including Mumbai, New Delhi, Rajasthan, and Varanasi. The upcoming 14-track album features contributions from Yasiin Bey, Omar Souleyman, Johnny Marr, Anoushka Shankar, Bizarrap, IDLES, Gruff Rhys, and posthumous appearances by Tony Allen, Bobby Womack, Mark E. Smith, Dennis Hopper, Proof, and Dave Jolicoeur.

To celebrate the new era, Gorillaz will embark on a UK and Ireland tour, kicking off March 21 at Manchester’s Co-Op Live. Following this, the band will continue their journey with their first-ever headline stadium show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20, marking a major milestone in their live performance history.
